Another member of the committee has been identified as Jimmy Moffat who is to the left of Jimmy Ferguson. Here is the information I received from his son John:
"Having logged on to your website it was of interest that I noticed above photo. I can now advise that the unknown person standing next to Jimmy Ferguson was my Father , Jimmy Moffat who was the brother in law of Tam Baillie also I picture.
My name is John Moffat and I had the honour of playing for my local team in Season 1975-76. I later went on to become a referee and was selected to referee the Annual Willie Johnston Memorial Trophy between Whitburn and Armadale , having also played for Armadale in Season 1976-77."
As always, many thanks for getting in touch to update me on this. Such things make this archive worthwhile.
Once again the above line up was provided by Alex Sibbald along with the following information. Thanks also to Willie Burton for providing a few more names.
Wullie Johnstone was the Secretary for many years. He came from Armadale but married a Whitburn girl., and became a Burnie fanatic. The annual trophy played for between Whitburn and the Dale is in memory of Wullie.
Jimmy Ferguson was also the Secretary for many years after Wullie. He worked for the old Whitburn Town Council and later the WL District Council; This proved very useful for the club as the old Town Council gave him the use of a tractor and grass cutter for free, for cutting the park on match days.
Bobby Welsh was the Match Secretary for many years. His son Robert later played for the club.
Andra Stevenson was club linesman for years on match days. I don`t know if this practice still continues.
